Directing and Scriptwriting 11

Prerequisites: None

 

Approach theatre from the other side! This course is an introduction to the arts of script writing and directing. Get experience in a non-threatening environment writing and directing a variety of short theatre pieces. Performances will depend on the desire and ability of the class.  Students are expected to be able to work independently.  

Directing 12

Prerequisites:  Acting 11 or Scriptwriting & Directing 11

 

Go beyond the duties of an actor to where the real power lies!  Explore the theory and practice of directing.  Students will learn and use the techniques of directing scenes and short plays for an audience.  Directing a one-act play may be an option.  Students are expected to be able to work independently.

 

Scriptwriting 12

Prerequisites: Acting 11; Scriptwriting and Directing 11;

Or a recommendation from an English or writing teacher

 

Experiment with different techniques and approaches to script writing while creating a portfolio of a wide variety of rough, second draft, and polished work.  Students will have a chance to share their work and have it performed for an audience. Students are expected to be able to work independently. 

 

Theatre Production 11/12

Prerequisites: None

 

Students will learn and practice at least five of the different duties required in technical theatre. These include stage management, lighting, sound, costumes, makeup publicity, stage crew, set design, set construction, scenic painting, poster design, house management, tickets and programs.  Students must be able to work independently and are required to put in time outside the timetable. Theatre production 12 will involve more in depth dedication to specific topics.
